Minister of Unification Lee Jae-joung gave a briefing on August 17 and explained the status of preparations for the summit meeting and plan for flood aid for the North.

The Current State of the Preparations for the 2nd Inter-Korean Summit Meeting

The South Korean government has organized pan-government promoting organizations and closely consulted for the summit meeting. Minister Lee said there would be no serious difficulty in the process of preparation because the two sides had agreed on most matters regarding the procedures at the preparatory meeting. Minister Lee also said the South plans to convey the list of its delegation to the North on August 21.

Plan for Flood Aid for the North

Minister Lee said the North's flood damage seems to be more serious than the previous year and the government would like to express its regret at the human and material damage. He also said considering the seriousness of the North's human and material damage and its urgent request for relief to the international community, the South decided to give flood aid to the North in spirit of fraternity and humanitarianism. The South plans to give 7.1billion won worth of relief materials to the North.
